Gaza electricity company to install prepaid meters

Jan. 11, 2013 9:33 P.M. (Updated: Jan. 13, 2013 10:52 P.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- An electricity company in the Gaza Strip is set to install pre-paid meters throughout the territory, its public relations director said Friday.

Jamal Dardasawi told Ma'an that tens of thousands of meters will be installed for selected customers, including companies and commercial organizations, starting in Gaza City.

The meters will help improve energy efficiency in Gaza and prevent electricity theft, Dardasawi added.

The Jerusalem Electricity Company announced similar measures in December for the West Bank.
