High-level Indonesian delegation arrives in Gaza

GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- A high-level Indonesian delegation arrived in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday from Egypt through the Rafah crossing.

Marzouqi Ali, head of the Indonesian parliament, told reporters at the Rafah crossing that the visit aimed to offer diplomatic support to the Palestinian people.

It was the second visit by Indonesian officials to the enclave, and Ali said he hoped the next trip would be to consolidate bilateral relations between Indonesia and Palestine.

Palestinian Legislative Council deputy speaker Ahmad Bahar applauded Indonesia's support to the Palestinian people, particularly during Israel's two recent wars on the Gaza Strip.

"We feel reassured that the largest Muslim country came to support the Palestinian people," Bahar said.
