BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Palestine's Central Elections Commisson announced on Tuesday the second stage of local elections would be postponed until further notice.

The vote was meant to take place on Saturday.

The commission said it was suspended by the Palestinian Authority cabinet due to the "difficult security situation the country is going through."

"It maintains hope to resume the electoral process as soon as possible," the statement said.
