Gaza govt to pay salaries next week

Nov. 8, 2012 9:41 P.M. (Updated: Nov. 8, 2012 7:37 P.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Gaza's minister of finance Zeyad al-Thatha said Thursday that public sector salaries will be paid next week.

Government employees will receive October salaries in the coming week, a statement from the minister said, without specifying a day.

The Palestinian Authority government in the West Bank said on Tuesday said it was paying salaries next week to those making over 1,000 shekels and under 2,000 per month.

Public sector workers in the West Bank have staged a series of strikes in recent weeks to protest the late and partial payment of their salaries.
