Gaza crossing closes over Jewish holiday

Oct. 7, 2012 5:11 P.M. (Updated: Oct. 8, 2012 3:07 P.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli authorities closed the sole goods crossing into the Gaza Strip for two days on Sunday during Jewish holidays, officials said.

Palestinian officials in Gaza told Ma'an the Kerem Shalom terminal would re-open on Tuesday, after the Sukkot holiday.

Israel tightened a land and sea blockade on Gaza after Hamas took power in 2007.

Gaza's only border crossing not controlled by Israel, Egypt's Rafah terminal, is not equipped for the transfer of goods.
