UAE donates 1 million dirhams to refugees in Gaza

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The United Arab Emirates Red Crescent has donated one million dirhams to refugees in Gaza for the holy month of Ramadan, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees said Tuesday.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency said the $272,000 donation would provide hot meals to 11,645 poor families as well as cash assistance and clothing to refugees in abject poverty.

UNRWA representative Peter Ford praised the UAE's consistent support to Palestinian refugees.

"Refugees are depending on our food programs, and this contribution will help us to address the needs of this population during Ramadan," he said in a statement.
