Woman drowns in open well near Hebron

July 13, 2012 11:52 P.M. (Updated: July 15, 2012 1:42 A.M.)
HEBRON (Ma’an) -- A Palestinian woman drowned Friday in a sinkhole in the Hebron area, a Red Crescent official said.

Abed Abu Fanar told Ma'an that the victim, Widad Adeis, 37, from Beit Amra west of Yatta, drowned after falling into an open well while en route to a wedding.

Her body was discovered about two hours of searching, said Nasser al-Kabbajah of the Red Crescent disaster unity. The woman was pronounced dead by an ambulance unit.

Al-Kabbajah called on the public in Yatta to close absorption wells and open drilling as it risks public safety.
