April 30, 2012 7:47 P.M. (Updated: May 1, 2012 2:58 P.M.)
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Estonia has upgraded Palestine's diplomatic representation to the status of a mission, the official Wafa news reported Monday.

Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet wrote to his Palestinian Authority counterpart Riyad al-Malki to notify him of the upgrade, Wafa said.

President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed the decision.

"The road to peace has gained us the recognition of more than 132 countries, a full membership in UNESCO as well as upgraded diplomatic representations in many countries," the president said.
