France condemns rocket attack on southern Israel

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- France has condemned a rocket attack on southern Israel on Wednesday, the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry deputy spokesman said.

"France condemns the rocket attack which occurred Wednesday in Gaza at the people of southern Israel," the spokesman said in a statement issued Thursday.

"It also condemns the consquences for the Palestinian civilian population for the raid Israel carried out in response ... France calls for restraint in order to avoid any risk of escalation."
