Between 50-60 people took part in a protest outside the Nativity Church in Bethlehem on Wednesday to show solidarity with hunger-striking prisoner Khader Adnan.

Palestinian Authority Minister of Detainee Affairs Issa Qaraqe spoke at the protest. He praised Adnan for "taking a stand" against the illegal policy of administrative detention.

The Jihad leaders' hunger strike is the longest any Palestinian prisoner has undertaken, Qaraqe added, and his protest defends the rights of all detainees in Israeli jails.

International rights group Amnesty International on Monday urged Israel to release or charge the Islamic Jihad leader.
