Nov. 9, 2011 7:33 P.M. (Updated: Nov. 10, 2011 2:38 P.M.)
NABLUS (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian man died late Wednesday after being run over by a car driven by an Israeli national in the occupied West Bank, a Ma'an correspondent said.

The victim was identified as Abdul Muttaleb Muhammad Hakim, 45, from Deir Istiya.

Hakim died instantly after he was struck near the Revava settlement entrance west of his village, said Ghassan Doughlas, an official who monitors settlements in the northern West Bank.

The Palestinian man was on his way home after picking olives, Doughlas said.

Nathmi Salman, head of the Deir Istiya village council, said Israeli police arrived at the scene and opened an investigation. The settler's car was still at the scene, Salman said.

Police are trying to determine whether or not the incident was intentional, he said.
