Islamic Jihad: Gaza govt seized operative

Aug. 18, 2011 3:50 P.M. (Updated: Aug. 19, 2011 11:19 A.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- The military wing of Islamic Jihad said on Thursday that one of its members had been detained by Gaza's internal security forces.

The Al-Quds Brigades demanded the Hamas-led government in the Gaza Strip release their affiliate, in a statement on their web page without providing further information.

While Islamic Jihad and Hamas are close both ideologically and politically, tensions have surfaced between the groups in the past.
