Festival to promote economic growth inaugurated in Al-Bireh

Aug. 18, 2011 10:08 A.M. (Updated: Aug. 18, 2011 7:40 P.M.)
RAMALLAH (Ma’an) – A Ramadan shopping festival was inaugurated Wednesday in Al-Bireh, with more than 50 local and Jordanian firms exhibiting their products.

The festival was sponsored by Ma'an News Network.

Hundreds of Palestinians visited the festival on its first day and director of the event Isam Najjar called on people to explore the wide range of products available.

A minimum of 50,000 visitors are expected, he said.

The exhibition includes food, clothes, shoes, electrical goods and other domestic items.

One of the motivations behind the exhibition is to encourage economic investment in Palestine and to expand trade and new Palestinian businesses.

Profits from the exhibition will be donated to the health sector in Palestine, Najjar added.
