GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- The Hamas government in the Gaza Strip said Tuesday that it has distributed over $135,000 to needy families in the first week of Ramadan.

"There are thousands of families in Gaza who need money especially during this Holy month. We help people and give them money or fix their houses in addition to some renovations at mosques in the region," Hamas official Musa As-Sammak told Ma'an.

As Sammak thanked donors for contributing money to the needy and said that more money would be distributed to families during Ramadan.
