Report: Army court convicts teen of Itamar murders

Aug. 3, 2011 1:37 A.M. (Updated: Aug. 4, 2011 10:05 P.M.)
TEL AVIV, Israel (Ma'an) -- An Israeli military court on Tuesday convicted a Palestinian teenager for the murder of an Israeli family in Itamar settlement in March, the Israeli daily Haaretz reported.

Hakim Awad, 18, pleaded guilty to stabbing to death five members of the Fogel family with an accomplice, 19-year-old Amjad Awad, the report said.

The teenagers are from Awarta village, close to the settlement in Nablus in the northern West Bank. They have both confessed to the murders, and the military prosecution say there is forensic evidence linking them to the scene of the crime, Haaretz reported.

Udi and Ruthie Fogel and their children three-month-old Hadas, four-year-old Elad and Yoav, 11, were brutally stabbed to death in their home on March 11.
