Free speech advocates meet UN commissioner

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The coalition to defend freedom of opinion and expression met Thursday with Matthias Behnke, head of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Palestine.

The meeting in Ramallah was held to discuss options for future cooperation between OHCHR and the coalition, a statement from the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms, which hosted the event, said.

During the meeting, options for cooperation aimed at stopping and preventing attacks against Palestinian journalists, especially by the Israeli military's forces, were discussed, the statement from MADA said.
