Witnesses: Israeli forces raid Jericho refugee camp

Feb. 15, 2011 9:19 P.M. (Updated: Feb. 16, 2011 3:00 P.M.)
JERICHO (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces ransacked four homes in the Aqbat Jaber refugee camp near Jericho on Tuesday, witnesses said.

Nael Abu Al-Asal said Israeli soldiers destroyed his home under the pretext of searching for weapons.

"They intended to smash the house, not search for weapons," he said, adding that forces deliberately frightened his children.

Troops destroyed everything in his home between 2.30 a.m. and 5 a.m., Al-Asal said.

An Israeli army spokeswoman was not familiar with any military activity in the area.
