NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Atta Abbas, the president's brother, died on Monday in Damascus, the official Palestinian Authority news agency WAFA reported.

President Mahmoud Abbas delivered a statement mourning his brother, known as Abu Fayez, who was a prominent Fatah leader for many years.

He said Abu Fayez always dreamed of seeing Palestine liberated with Jerusalem as its capital, WAFA reported.

Abbas said he would receive mourners at the presidency headquarters in Ramallah on Wednesday.
