Gaza worker shot in foot near Israel border

Dec. 11, 2010 2:13 P.M. (Updated: Dec. 12, 2010 1:18 P.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma’an) – Israeli forces shot and injured a Palestinian man Saturday as he was collecting stone aggregates north of Beit Lahiya in the Gaza Strip, medics said.

Medical officials explained that the man, who was not identified, sustained an injury to his left foot and was evacuated to hospital.

On Friday, Israeli forces shot and injured four stone collectors.

The army maintained that they consider the area a combat zone.

Soldiers frequently open fire at workers near the evacuated settlements. The supplies can be sold as construction materials in the enclave, which has been under a military blockade since 2007.
