Israeli fire injures 3 in north, central Gaza Strip

GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- Two separate incidents of reported Israeli fire injured three Gaza residents on Saturday morning, including two workers collecting aggregates in the northern Strip and a third bystander near his home in the central region.

Medics reported the incidents when responding to emergency calls for help, spokesperson of the Gaza Strip’s ambulance and emergency services Adham Abu Silmiyya said.

The workers in the north, he said, both sustained gunshot wounds to the left leg while they were collecting stone aggregates near the Erez crossing. The injuries brought to 90 the number of workers injured by Israeli fire along the borders since March.

In the central Gaza Strip, a man working near his home east of Deir Al-Balah sustained a gunshot would when Israeli forces reportedly opened fire on the area.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said soldiers fired on a group of people in the north and "identified a hit," while she said there was no military activity recorded Saturday morning in the central area.
