Report: Head of UN Goldstone follow-up body resigns

Dec. 2, 2010 12:28 P.M. (Updated: Dec. 2, 2010 9:58 P.M.)
TEL AVIV (Ma'an) -- UN Watch Chairman Alfred Moses told Israeli media outlets on Thursday that German professor Christian Tomuschat, who headed the UN committee charged with implementing the findings of the Goldstone Report, resigned for unknown reasons.

Tomuschat was appointed by the UN Human Rights Council to lead a Committee of Experts to follow up on Israeli and Palestinian investigations into allegations of war crimes committed during the winter war on Gaza.

The war crimes charges were compiled in a report prepared by a committee led by South African jurist Richard Goldstone.
