Portugal upgrades Palestinian representation

LISBON, Portugal (Ma'an) -- Portugal said Thursday it will upgrade Palestine's diplomatic representation in the country from office to mission.

The announcement comes amid ongoing efforts by the Palestinian Authority's Foreign Affairs' Ministry to upgrade Palestinian diplomatic status internationally.

Portugal was elected to the UN Security Council on Tuesday.
