Court rules selling land to Israel is capital offense

JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian court in Jerusalem ruled Thursday that selling land to Israel was a capital offense.

Judge Ta'et At-Twil ruled that the act of selling - or attempting to sell - land to a foreign country was a criminal offense which could result in the death penalty.

Under the instruction of general attorney Ahmad Al-Mughni, the court issued the ruling as a consolidation of the previous legal principle, a statement from the prosecution said, adding that the ruling aimed to protect the Palestinian national project to establish an independent Palestinian state.
