Al-Arish – Ma’an – Egyptian authorities said they detained 33 illegal African migrants on Saturday as they attempted to enter Israel in the northern Sinai.

Security sources told Ma’an that 22 of those attempting to enter Israel were Egyptian, with 19 Ethiopians and 3 Eritreans. The groups were approximately 150 kilometers away from the border when they were apprehended.

A second group included ten migrants, along with a four-year-old boy and three women, who were detained in a dispersed group near the border area, police said, noting one man was injured by officers when he refused arrest and kicked the arresting officer.
