Gaza faction launches three projectiles at Israeli forces

Gaza - Ma’an - The armed wing of the Popular Resistance Committees, the An-Nasser Salah Ad-Din Brigades, claimed to have fired three homemade projectiles at Israeli forces patrolling eastern Rafah in the south of the Strip.

Eyewitnesses said Israeli forces entered Gazan territory beyond the Israeli-controlled "buffer zone" area. When the vehicle left the buffer area forces fired on the troops.

The incident marks a slow rise in violence between Israeli forces and Gazan factions. Last week one projectile was fired at Israeli civilian areas east of Gaza, and Israeli soldiers shot and killed a 15-year-old, who was later found to be unarmed.

In a separate incident, the National Resistance Brigades, the armed wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), said that they exchanged fire with Israeli forces in northern Gaza at 1:15am.

In a statement they said they opened fire on Israeli forces in the town of Beit Hanoun, and that Israeli tanks fired back. The group said none of the fighters were injured.
