Gaza - Ma'an - A group affiliated with the National Resistance Brigades, the militant wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), claimed responsibility for launching a projectile at Ashkelon, Israel late on Wednesday night.

A group within the National Resistance Brigades, calling itself the "Projectile Unit," sent a statement to Ma'an claiming responsibility for the attack.

The Brigades-affiliate launched the attack in retaliation for "ongoing Israeli atrocities" in the Gaza Strip, according to the statement.
