Gaza - Ma'an - Palestinian resistance factions on Friday claimed responsibility for shelling Israeli settlements and towns near Gaza City.

The National Resistance Brigades, an armed wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), said in a statement received by Ma'an that homemade shells were fired on Sderot and other nearby Israeli military posts in Kesofem and Sofa.

The Ahmad Abu Ar-Rish Brigades, which is affiliated with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) shelled Sderot with two homemade devices, according to a separate statement.

The Al-Aqsa Brigades, which is affiliated with Fatah, claimed responsibility for shelling Sderot, as well.

All of the resistance factions confirmed that the shelling was in response to Israeli attacks, the latest of which killed four and wounded four others.
