PRC: countdown to the end of the ceasefire has begun

Nov. 2, 2008 12:19 P.M. (Updated: Nov. 2, 2008 12:19 P.M.)
Gaza - Ma'an - The Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) in Gaza have begun their countdown to the end of their agreed ceasefire with Israel, they said in a statement on Sunday. They said they felt Israel showed a lack of commitment to most of the preconditions of the deal.

The statement also commemorated the issue of the Balfour Declaration in 1917, and said the ceasefire has only served to help Israel kill Palestinians and continue the crippling siege on the area.

The statement welcomed the Egyptian efforts to reconcile Hamas and Fatah, but did not approve of several points in the suggested Egyptian document. The main objection was to the restrictions the document would put on the right to resistance.

The PRC said they would refuse to deprive Palestinians of their right to resist Israeli violence, since they could not entrust that right to the Palestinian security services.
