Sept. 27, 2008 12:38 P.M. (Updated: Sept. 27, 2008 12:38 P.M.)
Nablus -Ma'an - An Israeli settler was injured on Saturday as two Israeli cars came under fire Palestinian fire near Salfit in the northern West Bank. A rural branch of Fatah's Al-Aqsa Brigades have claimed responsibility for the incident.

The settlers were near the illegal Israeli settlement of Ale Zahav in the West Bank, when Palestinian gunmen opened fire. The driver of the car was taken to hospital for treatment.

According to Israeli sources troops spread out over the area near Ale Zahav in search of the attackers.

A group identifying itself as the "rural branch" of the Al-Aqsa Brigades claimed responsibility for the shooting. The group's spokesperson Abu Al-Yasser said the shooting was in retaliation for ongoing Israeli arrest campaigns against Palestinian activists. They threatened to undertake more attacks if Israel continues to assault Palestinians.
