Israeli military checkpoints hinder movement despite small improvements

Sept. 21, 2008 10:56 A.M. (Updated: Sept. 21, 2008 10:56 A.M.)
Bethlehem - Ma'an - The United Nation Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) released a report on Saturday in which it found that Israeli military checkpoints continue to hinder movement of the Palestinians in the West Bank and east Jerusalem despite the removal of a small number of them.

According the report, Israel has taken down some small roadblocks to ease the restrictions imposed on movement of Palestinians in the West Bank. Checkpoints have been removed on four routes in the northern West Bank and in Hebron in the south.

However, the report highlights that several checkpoints and roadblocks are still impeding movement of Palestinians in the West Bank and east Jerusalem.
