Al-Quds claims projectile attack; Barak orders Gaza crossings closed

Sept. 14, 2008 7:21 P.M. (Updated: Sept. 14, 2008 7:21 P.M.)
Bethlehem - Ma'an - The Al-Quds Brigades claimed responsibility for the projectile attack on Sderot Sunday afternoon.

In a statement the group said the attack came in retaliation for "ongoing Israeli atrocities," and that the homemade projectile was launched at 4:20 in the afternoon.

Israeli news agencies reported that Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak ordered all crossings between Israel and Gaza shut until Monday evening, when the "situation would be re-evaluated."

A fire was reported to have broken out at the site where the projectile landed in the western Negev. There were no injuries.
