Al-Quds Brigades: Israeli army violates truce in Gaza and West Bank

July 31, 2008 3:24 P.M. (Updated: July 31, 2008 3:24 P.M.)
Gaza - Ma'an - The military media department of the Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, issued a statement on Israeli violations of the truce in both Gaza and the West Bank on Thursday.

The Brigades said that Israel has violated the truce five times in the sixth week.

"The Israeli army has continued its foot dragging over fulfilling the requirements of the truce," the statement said. Gazans have not, it continued, "been given full access to basic human needs." The statement also accused Israel of letting in hugely limited supplies of food and goods, and said that most fruits arrive and have expired.

According to the statement the Israeli violations were as follows:

1-Thursday 24 July, Israeli jet fighters and drones hovered over the area for several hours in the morning.

2-Friday 24- July 9:30am-2:30pm, Israeli navel boats stationed themselves off the Gaza shore inside fishing waters.

3-Saturday 26 July, Israeli jet fighters once again hovered over the area as a number of military jeeps patrolled near Juhr Ad-Deek in the central-east area of the Gaza Strip.

4- Sunday 27 July, the Israeli army fired at a demonstration organized by Palestinian farmers and a human rights organization near the electronic fence north of Beit Hanoun.

5-Tuesday 29 July 1:00pm, Israeli jet fighters hovered over parts of Gaza.

Then the statement also condemned the Israeli violations in the West Bank.

It said that "the Israeli violations continued in all of the cities of the West Bank with almost daily invasions and sweeps of arrests." It condemned the deaths f a young man in Ni'lin on Tuesday, Sihab Din An-Natshah a leader of the Al-Qassam Brigades - Hamas' armed wing - on Sunday.

In the same week, said the statement, 38 Palestinians were injured, 30 of whom were from Ni'lin, and 36 citizens arrested. There were also 52 invasions carried out throughout the West Bank this past week.
