Al-Quds brigades: Israeli violations threaten truce

July 17, 2008 12:05 P.M. (Updated: July 17, 2008 12:05 P.M.)
Gaza - Ma'an - The Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Islamic Jihad, said on Thursday that Israeli forces are continuing to violate the conditions of the truce between the Gaza Strip and Israel. The Brigades claim there have been six major Israeli violations of the truce since 19 June.

The violations include the killing of 18 year old Salim Hamidi, near the Kissufim crossing in the south of the Gaza Strip, who local sources maintain was a civilian. Other incidents include shooting at fishermen by Israeli forces in the north of the strip and the detention of a young man east of Khan Younis.

The Al-Quds brigades say that these violations by Israel threaten the tenuous truce which is now in its fourth week.
