May 9, 2019 1:02 P.M. (Updated: May 10, 2019 11:15 A.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces physically assaulted Palestinians near the Lions Gate and Damascus Gate, in the Old City of occupied East Jerusalem, on Wednesday evening.

Eyewitnesses told Ma'an that near the Lions Gate, Israeli police forces assaulted two Palestinian worshipers by beating and kicking them as they were making their way out of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound after the Tarawih Muslim prayers.

The identity of the two assaulted aplestinians remained unknown.

Witnesses mentioned that near the Damascus Gate, Israeli forces provoked dozens of Palestinians youths by repeatedly firing tear-gas bombs and sound grenades towards them.

Israeli forces also prevented the youths from staying in the area near Damascus Gate for an unknown reason.

Witnesses confirmed that the firing of tear-gas bombs and sound grenades was intentional as Muslim worshipers, including women, children, and the elderly, were exiting the Al-Aqsa compound through the Damascus Gate.

Witnesses added that despite women and children being present, Israeli forces continued to fire tear-gas bombs in the area.
