April 20, 2019 9:45 A.M. (Updated: April 23, 2019 2:16 P.M.)
JENIN (Ma'an) -- Palestinian prisoner Mhanna Zayoud entered his 15th year in Israeli prisons, on Friday.

The Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) said that Israeli forces had detained Zayoud, from the Silat al-Harithiya village in the northern occupied West Bank district of Jenin, in April 2004.

Zayoud was then sentenced to 25 years in prison for "resisting the occupation."

The Israeli Prison Services (IPS) had previously also banned Zayoud from receiving family visits several times.

Israeli authorities are still incarcerating more than 6,000 Palestinian and Arab prisoners for resisting its occupation of the occupied Palestinian territories.

According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there are 5,450 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons, including 48 female prisoners, and 205 minors, 32 of whom under 16 years old.
