HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces released five Palestinian teachers and a student, on Tuesday, after being held for several hours on their way to the Hajariyah School in Hebron City, in the southern occupied West Bank.

Following an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident, the Palestinian Civil Liaison said Israeli forces claimed that there was allegedly a knife inside the vehicle, which was transporting the five teachers along with the student.

It remained unknown whether a knife was found inside the vehicle.

Local sources said that the five teachers and the student have not arrive to the school in and did not attend any classes, causing distress among the school’s faculty.

While held by Israeli forces, the teachers were not able to contact their families or use their phones due to the soldiers briefly confiscating their cell phones.

Hebron's governor, Jibrin al-Bakri, and the Head of the directorate of education in Hebron, Atef al-Jamal, and locals welcomed the teachers and student upon their release from Israeli forces.
