Palestinian Presidency welcomes resolution for Middle East peace

Dec. 7, 2018 4:03 P.M. (Updated: Dec. 8, 2018 11:47 A.M.)
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- The Palestinian Presidency Friday welcomed, on Friday, the United Nations General Assembly’s approval of an Irish resolution calling for establishing comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

UNGA overwhelmingly approved the Irish resolution, entitled “Comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

156 voted in favor of the resolution, while six opposed and 12 abstained.

The resolution reportedly calls “the achievement, without delay" of lasting Mideast peace on the basis of UN resolutions and reaffirms "unwavering support for the two-state solution of Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security within recognized borders, based on the pre-1967 borders.”
