Israel bans Jerusalem governor entry to West Bank

Nov. 9, 2018 11:23 A.M. (Updated: Nov. 12, 2018 3:08 P.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- The Israeli authorities banned the Palestinian Governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith, from entry to the occupied West Bank for six consecutive months, on Thursday.

A Ma'an reporter said that the Israeli intelligence summoned Ghaith for interrogation at the Russian compound police station in Jerusalem City, during which he was immediately informed that he was banned from entering the West Bank for six months.

The ban was ordered under the pretext of incitement and posing a "threat to the security of the State of Israel."

Ghaith was given 72 hours to challenge the order.

During past October, several vehicles, belonging to the special unit of Israeli forces, intercepted another vehicle that was transporting the Palestinian Governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith, in the Beit Hanina neighborhood, and detained him without providing a reason.

Several hours after his detention, the Israeli authorities released Ghaith to be transferred under house arrest for one week.
