Israeli forces kill 21-year-old Palestinian along Gaza border

Nov. 9, 2018 11:07 A.M. (Updated: Nov. 11, 2018 9:47 A.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian youth was shot and killed by Israeli live ammunition, on Thursday, east of the al-Maghazi refugee camp in the central besieged Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed that its medical crews transferred the body of the killed Palestinian, identifying him as Muhammad Abu Sharbin, 21, to the Shuhada al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah.

Eyewitnesses said that Israeli forces opened fire towards a group of Palestinian youths, who had approached the electronic security fence along the Gaza border.

The Israeli army has not released a statement regarding the reason for opening fire and killing Abu Sharbin yet.

Since the start of "The Great March of Return" protests on March 30th, Israeli forces killed 220 Palestinians and injured more than 24,000 others, according to the ministry's statistics.

"The Great March of Return" protests were launched by thousands of Palestinian civilians in Gaza -- which has suffered from a decade-long Israeli siege -- who took to the borders to demand their right of return as refugees to their original homelands, now in present-day Israel.
