Palestinian government calls for halt of aggression on Gaza

Aug. 9, 2018 11:13 A.M. (Updated: Aug. 9, 2018 3:09 P.M.)
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Spokesperson of the Palestinian government, Youssef al-Mahmoud, called on the international community on Thursday to immediately intervene to halt the "Israeli aggression" toward the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Al-Mahmoud holds the Israeli government, as well as the United States administration, responsible for the violent escalation in Gaza.

Regardless of the tensions already present due to the nearly 12-year siege imposed by Israel, violence escalates when Israel continuously carried out airstrikes and shelling against the people of Gaza.

He stressed that the siege resulted in critical deterioration in living conditions in Gaza.

Al-Mahmoud added that the Palestinian cause is in danger and requires reconciliation and the restoration of national unity.
