BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli police forces detained a number of Palestinians during overnight raids between Thursday and Friday, according to Israeli police spokeswoman Luba al-Samri.

Al-Samri said in a statement that Israeli police and border guard forces “detained Palestinians suspected of disrupting order during the past days" from the Shufat refugee camp in occupied East Jerusalem after raiding and searching their homes overnight.

She did not specify how many Palestinians were detained from Shufat.

Separately, in the town of Qatanna, northeast of Jerusalem in the central occupied West Bank, Israeli police forces raided a house where they allegedly “found a weapon, gun and ammunition” and detained the owner of the weapons.

Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, with a biweekly average of 95 search and detention raids carried out over the course of 2016, according to UN documentation.
