27 detained at Allenby crossing

JERICHO (Ma'an) -- Palestinian Authority police said officers stationed at the Allenby crossing between the West Bank and Jordan detained 27 Palestinians wanted for fraud and other crimes, according to a weekly round-up of activity at the crossing.

The 27 were detained from 8,221 who traveled into Jordan during the week, including 86 foreign nationals and 30 Israeli ID card holders. Ambulances transported 29 patients to Jordan for medical treatment.

Returning to the West Bank were 7,986 of whom 108 were foreign nationals and 46 holders of Israeli ID cards.

Israeli officials at the crossing denied 33 Palestinians permission to leave the country for unspecified "security concerns."
