Fatah calls for unity, exposure of Israeli aggression

Jan. 18, 2009 4:02 P.M. (Updated: Jan. 18, 2009 4:02 P.M.)
Bethlehem - Ma'an - The Executive Committee of the Fatah movement called on every faction in the Gaza Strip to "expose" Israel's true intentions there, according to a statement on Sunday.

Fatah urged all Palestinian resistance factions to make clear their commitment to the Egyptian initiative for ending the aggression in Gaza, as well as an immediate Israeli withdrawal and lifting of the siege.

Israel is betting on future Palestinian disunity, Fatah said, urging Palestinians to prove them wrong by uniting behind the Egyptian plan.

The committee called on all "Arab brothers" to work honestly to end the internal division, "which only benefits the Israeli occupation."

Fatah also urged faction from outside of the Palestine Liberation Organization, such as Hamas, to rejoin the Palestinian Authority, "which has internationally recognized international legitimacy."

Fatah also accused Israel of war crimes in its war on Gaza, insisting that its political and military leaders should be tried and convicted in international courts for the use of internationally prohibited weapons.
