Nov. 5, 2008 8:37 P.M. (Updated: Nov. 5, 2008 8:37 P.M.)
Gaza - Ma'an - Armed Palestinian groups continued a day of attacks on Israeli military and civilian targets in the vicinity of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday evening in retaliation for an Israeli onslaught on Tuesday night that left six Palestinian fighters dead.

The Israeli air and ground attack was the most serious Israeli incursion since a ceasefire went into effect in June.

Israeli media reported that more than 40 homemade projectiles have landed in areas bordering Gaza since Tuesday night.

The Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) claimed responsibility for launching two homemade projectiles at the Israeli town of Sderot, which borders northern Gaza.

"The crimes of the Israeli forces will not pass without punishment," the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades said.

Separately the National Resistance Brigades, affiliated to the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine announced their responsibility for shelling the Israeli Sufa military base with five "missiles."

A faction called the the Murabetin Army, which claims allegiance to Fatah's Al-Aqsa Brigades, released a statement saying they would no longer abide by the ceasefire.

"All the brigades and the resistance will fight against the Israeli crimes," the statement said.
