Israel prevents Palestinian MPs from leaving en route to Indonesia

Oct. 29, 2008 1:06 P.M. (Updated: Oct. 29, 2008 1:06 P.M.)
Nablus - Ma'an - Israel prevented three Palestinian members of parliament from leaving the West Bank en route to Indonesia on Wednesday, the lawmakers told Ma'an.

Bassim Za'arir and Abd Aj-Jaber Fuqaha' and Muna Mansour, all members of the Palestinian Legislative Council, were refused permission to leave at the Allenby Bridge, the only border crossing available to Palestinians from the West Bank, the delegation's spokesperson said.

Israeli officials cited "security reasons" in refusing to allow the men to travel.

"The delegation was en route to Indonesia following invitation of Indonesian committee to support Palestinian people to attend the international humanitarian conference to support victims of occupation in Palestine in the period between Friday 31 October and Sunday 2 November 2008," the spokesperson added.
